Leaf from the Book "Ever Wondered" authored by Vikas Ruparelia?

Ever Wondered ........ that in recruitment in India, the most important decision of "first level screening of a candidate profile" is taken by the least qualified person?.

This has been the story from the moment there has been a surplus of candidates vis-a-vis requirements in the Indian Job Market.

The all important task of the first level screening of each candidate has been conferred upon the STRONG SHOULDERS of the latest "fresher" recruit in the recruitment team of any organization, it is he/she who screens the profiles, he/she who decides whether that person will fit in or not and it is he/she who meets the candidate in the first round of interview.

Then again it is he/she who compares the qualities of the candidate vis-a-vis the qualities required for the successful delivery of the job and then it is he/she rattles her mind then thinks and then decides "what is correct/incorrect" --- after all he/she has learnt so much from the VAST ZERO experience that he/she carries in screening candidates.

Then again it is he/she who decides the career of the professional who has spent his last 10 years in his field, by deciding whether his resume should even be shared with the seniors or not. . . . . .

Now have you EVER WONDERED why the "CV Sent to Reject Ratio and Candidate Interviewed to Candidate offered Ratio is so high!!!!! "

This is just a leaf from the book "EVER WONDERED"
ROOR . . . .. .

Did anyone ever wonder where does new words come from?

I did..... i kept wondering and wondering and wondering and then i understood, New Words came from EXPERIENCE and Continuous Usage......

Today i would like to share such a NEW WORD that has crossed my path ..... and thus i believe that i am the OWNER of this word. .. .

The word is ROOR........... as when someone is not rich we say that he is poor .... but in todays day and age many people are not poor but they are ROOR.

ROOR is a person who is "RELATIVELY POOR" i.e. he is rich by all calculations but he believes that he RELATIVELY POOR . . .. he has a car a house a job but with the comparison to his friends or people around him he things that he is Relatively Poor or as I would like to call it .... ROOR............

Think hard and you will find yourself surrounded by roor people.... people who have never had to travel by a train crib cos their car is only 1000CC and his friend has a 1500CC .... or they say only in 2BHK Apartments and his friend has 3BHK etc etc .......

So what is it being ROOR ........

a roor person ccribs and ccribs and is so unsatisfied that at the end he stays unhappy for the most part of his life....... the solution is to be satisfied in his own life........

Thats all for the day..........

This is the world from the eyes of Vikas Ruparelia.

What is Recruitment ?

I have been closely associated with various organization as an employee and as a service provider and not managing an "EXECUTIVE SEARCH" firm.

One of the things that I have seen and understood is that there is not a single institute which makes "RECRUITERS".

And the irony is that Institutes may make HR Professionals but none which make recruiters. However 65% of the students who complete Human Resource specialization course end up working in a Reruitment Firm.

I believe that there are more then enough things to be taught to a professional in reference to recruitment. The topics shoudl include:-
  1. Understanding business development
  2. Recruitment Contracts and Agreements
  3. Recruitment Terminology
  4. Recruitment Methodologies
  5. Job Portals
  6. Alternate Methods of Attracting Candidates
  7. Screening Profiles
  8. Shortlisting Profiles
  9. Industry Mapping
  10. Organization Mapping
  11. First Call
  12. Track each call
  13. Follow up each candidate and then call
  14. Final Meeting Line ups
  15. Salary Negotiation
  16. When to not involve yourself and let go
  17. Post offer followup
  18. Counter offer
  19. Salary Satisfaction
  20. Checking through alternate methods about the Resignation
  21. Reference Check
  22. Cross Reference Check
  23. Social Media for verification
I am sure this is not a comprehensive list, however i am also sure that no company/college.institute teaches this in Mumbai.

Students are taught how to recruit when the PROFILE comes to them from a consultant, but the process that takes place in the background is never taught.

Thus this is a GAP and this is which we at RightMatch plan to fill.
